Mary McClary is passionate about serving her community. Her professional career spans almost two decades. She started as an early childhood teacher for thirteen years in Brooklyn, New York where she developed her teaching and empathetic skills to assist young people with being their best. In her mid -20’s, a visit to Virginia left a memorable impression and the decision to reside there became reality in 2008. Within the course of five years, Mary earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South University in 2013 and attended Walden University for two years, specializing in Counseling Education and Supervision with Trauma and Crisis as the speciality. Currently working towards a professional counseling license, Mary is serious about social change, social justice, and social advocacy with making sure individuals and communities receive adequate and appropriate resources. Mary was employed as the Mental Health Coordinator for the Bureau of Corrections in the United States Virgin Islands on St. Croix for five years. She specializes in domestic violence awareness, intervention, and prevention. Mary’s therapeutic lenses are holistic and trauma-informed. She is a firm believer, small changes lead to huge outcomes and positive support systems are the missing link to people’s healing.
